Paula Thomas as the character Whip Snap from Stan Lee’s TV series Who Wants To Be A Superhero?
MEET CREATOR PAULA THOMAS
Paula Thomas is a Dallas, Texas native who had the awesome privilege of portraying Whip-snap!, one of Stan Lee’s superheroes on his acclaimed TV series “Who Wants to Be A Superhero?” Acting, while striking a few poses along the way as a model on the hit TV show “She’s Got The Look,” Paula entered the entertainment industry with a bang.
Along her eventful journey, which started with her first role in a movie called “Sibley” and included a starring role in Rascal Flatts’ music video for the song “Everyday,” Paula has never lost her passion for drums. It was after her dazzling audition for a tall, androgynous drummer that she learned that she had made the cut to become the first female drummer for the Blue Man Group!
Paula’s love of drumming started when she was 6 years old and followed her throughout her school-aged years. Constantly drumming on everything she could get her knuckles on, Paula was always delighted to indulge her clamoring classmates with some of what they called “that knuckle action,” even if it was to the dismay of her teachers and other school administrators.
This incessant need to drum would finally find a home on a 5 piece, shiny black Pearl drum kit of her own with now-iconic Vic Firth drumsticks. These life-changing gifts were given to Paula from her thoughtful Stepfather with only one caveat - that HE must be the one to teach her how to play the drums, despite him being deaf in both of his ears. Presenting this obvious conundrum to her Stepfather, it was in that exact moment that his unwittingly wise response of “Paula, before you can HEAR the beat, you must FEEL it from within” jolted Paula into the incredible, lifelong ride that is drumming.
Taking what she’s learned from behind the scenes of the Blue Man Group and in front of the cameras of reality television, Paula started writing and creating a show dedicated to ALL drummers, men and women alike. That show is I Got The Beat: The Hands Behind The Sticks.
